Now that you have gathered all the ingredients needed for Dj’s Cornbread Real Meal Deal Recipe, it is time to start cooking! Follow these simple steps to make your very own cornbread from scratch.

Mixing dry ingredients

In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/4 cups white flour, 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 tablespoon raw sugar and ½ teaspoon sea salt. Make sure to blend everything well so that there are no clumps.

Wet ingredients

In another medium-sized bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1 ¼ cups milk, and 1/3 cup canola oil until smooth. Add in one small minced clove of garlic minced and stir it in.

Combining wet and dry mixtures

Pour the well-blended wet mixture into the large bowl with the dry ingredient mixture. Stir just until everything is combined. Do not overmix! Fold in ¼ cup of grated cheddar cheese, ¼ cup of diced red bell pepper, ¼ cup of chopped green onion, and ½ -¾ cup of drained whole corn into the batter.

Preparing pan

Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a baking pan (either 8×8 or 9×9) with either butter or non-stick spray. To get a nice crispy outer crust, place the pan inside the oven as it preheats for at least a good five minutes; this makes the sides and bottom just a little crispy.

Pouring and baking

Once the oven reaches temperature, remove the hot pan from the oven using oven mitts, and pour batter evenly into it. Put it back into the oven on the middle rack, and bake for about 25-28 minutes or until golden brown with crispy edges around it. Use a skewer or toothpick inserted into center to check doneness; when it comes out clean, you know you’re done!

Resting before serving

Let Dj’s Cornbread Real Meal Deal Recipe rest on a wire rack to cool down before serving. The flavors will settle down leaving you with perfect deliciousness! Enjoy with some butter honey drizzles on top – this comfort food is perfect as an accompaniment for entrees or sides.

Nothing screams comfort food quite like a freshly baked batch of cornbread. However, sometimes life happens and you need to plan ahead. Luckily for you, DJ’s Cornbread Real Meal Deal is easily adaptable for make-ahead meals, storing and reheating.

Make-Ahead:

Planning ahead can save you time and stress in the kitchen later on. One way to do this is by preparing the dry ingredients in advance. Simply mix the white flour, cornmeal, sugar, garlic powder, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and store it in an airtight container until ready to use.

Alternatively, you can prepare your batter and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking. This will allow the flavors to deepen and infuse into the cornbread, resulting in an even more satisfying meal.

Storing:

Luckily, DJ’s Cornbread Real Meal Deal stores well. After cooling, store leftover cornbread tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil at room temperature for up to 2 days. For extended storage, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.

Reheating:

The best way to reheat cornbread is to wrap it in foil and heat it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes or until heated through. You can also reheat individual slices in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.

Just be careful not to overheat the cornbread as it may become dry or tough.

With these make-ahead, storing and reheating tips, DJ’s Cornbread Real Meal Deal can become a staple dish on your menu without adding any extra stress to your day.

Now that you have everything you need to make DJ’s Cornbread, it’s time to ensure that the end product is as perfect as possible. Here are some tips that I’ve picked up over the years that will help you avoid common mistakes and make your recipe turn out great.

First, be sure not to overmix your batter. Overmixing can cause gluten development in the flour which can lead to a tough and dense cornbread. Mix your ingredients only until they are just combined.

Secondly, use fresh baking powder for best results. If you are unsure about the freshness of your baking powder, try testing it by combining 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder with 1/4 cup of hot water. If the mixture immediately starts bubbling vigorously, then the baking powder is still good to use.

Thirdly, preheating your oven is crucial before baking your cornbread. This ensures that the oven reaches the right temperature before putting in your pan. This creates an ideal environment for even baking throughout the dish.

Fourthly, if you want a very moist and tender bread, consider using fine-ground white cornmeal instead of medium or coarse-ground. Fine-ground cornmeal has a fine texture resulting in a smoother batter and less crumbly end products.

Fifthly, adding shredded cheddar cheese on top of batter just before putting in the oven will give you nice cheesy topping with crispy edges.

Lastly, follow the recipe closely when measuring ingredients, especially flour and sugar. Too much flour in particular will make your cornbread dry and crumbly while too much sugar may cause a burnt end-product.

By following these simple tips, your DJ’s Cornbread will come out tender and moist every time!
